d4vd – Sleep Well Lyrics
His single suggests a point in time where he hopes that his lover still thinks about him at night. In a very solemn ballad, D4vd draws the line between his conscious and his lover. He feels self conscious about how he thinks his lover views him, alluding to his fear of her inevitably moving onto another person. While their relationship wasn’t perfect, he goes through the roller coaster of emotions about her not being able to look into his eyes anymore, suggesting something terrible happened that ended their relationship. While he is upset about that, he still believes that he has a true, undeniable love for her and no matter how long it takes, he wants to make it a point that he is still here for her and cares for her. He hopes that she thinks about him at night and he suggests that she may experience nightmares. This can be drawn to his hopeless romantic mindset, as previous songs suggest similar motives and ideas. It can only lead us to believe that his last heartbreak, even if it wasn’t Public, is shown in his soul and feeling when he produces music.
Sleep Well Lyrics by d4vd
[Verse 1]
Do you think about me every night?
Before you go to sleep (Yeah)
I know you must be terrified
Of what you might see in your dreams, but
[Chorus]
I’m here for you still
And even if you don’t think that I’m near
I’ll still be right next to you, my dear (Hmm)
And the way you make me feel
Has the power to make the whole world stand still
Who’s to say that our love ain’t real? (Hmm)
[Verse 2]
And I know I’m not the perfect guy
But I think I’m doing just alright
It doesn’t matter what you thought of me then
But what you think of me now
We haven’t always seen eye to eye
But right now, won’t you look at minе
Don’t be scared, therе’s no such thing as fear
When you sleep, just know that
[Chorus]
I’m here for you still
And even if you don’t think that I’m near
I’ll still be right next to you, my dear (Hmm)
And the way you make me feel
Has the power to make the whole world stand still
Who’s to say that our love ain’t real?
