Released with very little announcements, Bars Mitzvah is BLP KOSHER’s debut studio album, following up his November 2022 mixtape, BLP Kosher and the Magic Dreidel.

The album’s title is a play of the name bar mizvah (masc.), which is a coming-of-age ritual of Judaism, where the Jewish religion does a ceremony of Jewish boys who has reached age 13 and is regarded to be ready to observe the religious precepts and is eligible to take part in the public worthship.

Although the album received little to no announcement, on February 26, 2023, BLP KOSHER took to Instagram announcing that Bars Mitzvah would be coming soon:

During an interview with Our Generation Music on April 21, 2023, KOSHER spoke a bit about the album and it’s sound, stating:

It’s gonna have a little interlude at the end. It’s all gonna be like rap shit and like catchy songs. I’m tryna make that shit like, you know… I’m tryna give the fans what they want, I want everything to be like what they want and then like I’m gonna introduce little vulnerable side, where stuff like all the hype and all the lights turned off and shit. I have like a little vulnerable side with this music shit, you know. People have heard it before. […] but I’m gonna introduce that in the interlude, I want it to be easy to digest, I don’t want it to be like one transition. I want it actually to be like towards the end and then end it off with some banger type shit. Similar to Magic Dreidel but just even better, more better production stuff.

The album’s sole single, “Special K,” was released on June 23, 2023.

The album was then revealed by KOSHER himself on July 31, 2023, where he took to Instagram revealing both the cover art, tracklist, and an August 4 release date. Consisting of nineteen tracks, Luh Tyler, Trapland Pat, and DJ Premier serves as the album’s sole features.
