Midnight Club: Dub Edition serves as the first of two deluxe versions of Autumn!’s second release of 2023, Midnight Club.

The title for the deluxe is named after the 2005 racing game, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, derived from a partnership between Rockstar Games and DUB Magazine.

The deluxe was first confirmed by Autumn! on June 12, 2023, where Autumn! took to Instagram sharing the official cover art for the project, as well as announcing that the originally planned sequel, Midnight Club 2, would be the full album, stating:

On August 1, 2023, Autumn! revealed on Instagram an early tracklist for the deluxe, with unknown features, to which Autumn! teased his fans what artists do they want for the deluxe.

Then on August 14, Autumn! took to Instagram stories revealing that the album would be released before his upcoming tour.

On September 1, 2023, Autumn! announced in an Instagram story that the deluxe would be releasing in September of 2023, as a result of Midnight Club leaking, alongside revealing the deluxe’s official title:

On September 19, 2023, Autumn! took to Instagram revealing the deluxe’s official cover art and release date. Autumn! also teased Yung Fazo being a potential feature for the deluxe on the same post.

The deluxe’s lead and only single, “STILL CAN’T RENT!,” also known as “CAN’T RENT ANYMORE PT. 2!,” would be released on September 29, 2023. The day before, Autumn! took to Instagram stories announcing that the deluxe would only feature four new songs. He also announced that he had a surprise ready for the fans.

The next day, Autumn! stated in an Instagram group chat that Midnight Club would have two deluxe versions instead of one, in which the second one he teased a release for next week or two, hence why he cut down the deluxe to four songs.

The night before Dub Edition’s release, Autumn! stated in an Instagram story that Midnight Club: Dub Edition Remix would be released within the next two weeks, with four additional songs added, making it a total of eight new songs for the full deluxe.
