Midnight Club is Autumn!’s second release of 2023, following up of his March 2023 album, Golden Child, Chapter 3. The mixtape’s title is named after the video game series of the same name, developed by Rockstar Games.

In February 2022, a fan posted screenshots of a conversation with Autumn! in Instagram DM’s, where Autumn! revealed that Midnight Club would be the secret album, in which he hopes to drop one day. Autumn! also claims that it would be dropping “before the summer.”

After keeping a bit of silence on the project, on May 10, 2023, Autumn! took to Instagram stories speaking about the project’s progress:

On May 30, 2023, Autumn! took to TikTok announcing that the project was finished and spoke that it would be better than Golden Child, Chapter 3.

The next day, Autumn! took to Instagram sharing a early draft of the tracklist, consisting of twenty tracks, while also stating that he wants to record up to fifty songs for the project:

On June 8, 2023, Autumn! announced on Instagram stories that he would be releasing the project on June 30 in time for his performance at Boxfest LA.

After much anticipation, on June 12, 2023, Autumn! took to Instagram sharing the official cover art for the then-intended EP, as well as announcing that the sequel, Midnight Club 2, would be the full album, stating:

To further help promote the album, Autumn! started sharing snippets of the songs confirmed to be in Midnight Club via his TikTok page, where he started to post a snippet of a song off the album every day up until it’s release.

On June 17, 2023, Autumn! took to Instagram stories hinting on an earlier release for June 24:

Two days later, Autumn! confirmed in an Instagram story that Midnight Club would be releasing on June 24 instead of June 30, alongside hinting on releasing more music in July after his performance at Boxfest LA. However, the release date was quickly changed to June 23. A pre-save link was provided on that same day.

Alongside those announcements, Autumn! took to Instagram livestreams sharing a wide variety of snippets off the project, alongside him uploading the album through DistroKid.

Although originally teased for a June 23 release date, the project did not meet its initial release schedule due to Autumn! having issues with DistroKid, resulting in the project having to be pushed back. As a result, Autumn! took to an newly launched Instagram fan group chat apologizing to his fans for the delay, however he announced that he would make it up with an upcoming single and an updated tracklist:

On July 6, 2023, Autumn! took to the newly launched Threads app announcing that the rollout for Midnight Club would begin with a rollout of singles being released soon up until the project’s release:

On July 8, 2023, Autumn! announced in an Instagram story, through the group chat, and on Threads that the originally intended lead single for the project, “BIGGEST FLAW INTERLUDE!,” would be released on July 13, however that ended up not being the case due to distribution issues.

On July 13, 2023, Autumn! shared on Instagram stories a screenshot of him listening to the song “4GSeller!,” indicating that the song would instead be the lead single for the project:

That same day, he posted a screenshot of a DM from a fan confirming that he would be uploading a new song off the album, to which he states its his favorite from Midnight Club, as well as confirming that he would start dropping again once his distribution issue gets fixed.

After much anticipated waiting, on July 15, 2023, Autumn! took to Threads announcing that a new single off the album would be released on July 20, after fixing distribution issues, to which it would end up being “4GSELLER!”

On July 18, 2023, Autumn! confirmed on TikTok and in an Instagram story that the intended lead single for Midnight Club, “BIGGEST FLAW INTERLUDE!,” would be the next single off the project to be released following the release of “4GSELLER!”

The next day, Autumn! announced in his Instagram group chat that he would start sending exclusive snippets off the project in the chat, while also confirming that he was arranging the final tracklist for the project. That same day, Autumn! took to a now-deleted Instagram story that he may drop the whole album immediately, to which it didn’t.

After much anticipated waiting, on July 24, 2023, Autumn! took to an Instagram livestream announcing that Midnight Club was finished. He also confirmed the finished album in an Instagram story that same day. In the livestream, Autumn! played a snippet of a beat confirmed to be on the album, while also talking to his fans about the album.

On July 30, 2023, Autumn! announced in an Instagram story that both the album’s official cover art and tracklist would be revealed the following week.

The next day, Autumn! took both to Instagram stories and TikTok announcing that Midnight Club would be released on August 29, while also revealing that the song “Just Like Me!,” would be releasing on August 8 as the album’s second single.

On August 1, 2023, Autumn! took to Instagram stories backtracking his original release date for the album to August 22 instead. He also revealed on Instagram the official tracklist for the project, alongside the tracklist for the deluxe, with unknown features, to which Autumn! teased his fans what artists do they want for the deluxe.

On August 6, 2023, Autumn! took to Instagram stories sharing that three new singles would be released within the span of August 10 through August 18. The songs “CHANELLY & BIRKIN!,” (released August 10) “JUST LIKE ME!,” (released August 14) and “COCAINE DIAMONDS!” (released August 18) were all released respectively on their own release dates.

Finally, on August 7, Autumn! took to Instagram on a post to finally showcase the cover art and the official tracklist for Midnight Club, along a Spotify presave link, with the caption reading:

The night before “JUST LIKE ME!’s” release, the mixtape was leaked in its entirety, although that did not stop it from being released in its initial release date.
