s*x m*ney dr*gs (commonly abbreviated as SMD) is LUCKI’s third studio album, following his September 2022 album FLAWLESS LIKE ME.

The first mention of this project would be on an Instagram live hosted the day after FLAWLESS LIKE ME’s release, where he originally revealed that the highly anticipated track “2021 Vibes” would make the album cut, alongside a Lil Uzi Vert collaboration, however that ended up not being the case

Originally, LUCKI was intended to drop a deluxe version of FLAWLESS LIKE ME before the album’s release, with the first mention of the deluxe being mentioned in a tweet in which he confirmed that he was working on the deluxe, stating:

LUCKI would then tease the deluxe again in a now-deleted Instagram post in which he further confirmed that it would be coming soon.

On January 21, 2023, LUCKI replied to a fan on Twitter confirming that the deluxe would feature twelve new songs. Three days later, LUCKI would reveal on social media the cover art to the now-scrapped deluxe.

On February 28, 2023, it was announced on social media that the deluxe would be speculated to be released in March 2023, alongside s*x m*ney dr*gs which was originally teased for a Q4 2023 release.

Then on March 30, 2023, while appearing on a livestream with BruceDropEmOff, LUCKI announced on stream that FLAWLESS LIKE ME: MADE MARTIAN would instead be an entirely different project in favor.

On April 27, 2023, when talking about how one of his more famous songs “Leave Her” came along, LUCKI would end the tweet saying “SMD next month,” teasing for the project’s release sometime in either May or June of 2023.

On May 19, 2023, LUCKI would officially state on Twitter that the album was complete. Around two weeks later amongst the sudden announcement, he would release the lead single “No Bap.” Then on June 29, 2023, the release month for SMD would be officially announced via LUCKI’s Instagram page. In the caption, it reads:
