Don’t Try This At Home is YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s sixth full-length studio album following his fifth studio album, January 2023’s I Rest My Case.

The album was first teased through YoungBoy’s AMP radio show in which he asked fans which project they would rather have, Don’t Try This At Home, or I Rest My Case.

On February 1, 2023, YoungBoy appeared on the cover of Billboard’s Power 100 magazine after being interviewed by Billboard in which he mentioned the release of the album. Fans speculated it was just another name for IRMC, however, through the Never Broke Again Instagram page, the project was teased alongside the release of AI YoungBoy 3, the trilogy to YoungBoy’s AI YoungBoy mixtape series.

After appearing on the Rap Radar Podcast on February 16, 2023, after receiving backlash for the experimental sound of his previous project, YoungBoy noted that the album would feature his more favorable sound:

Oh, I’ma talk crazy on there. You know what I’m sayin’? Murder man. But, I’m lettin’ you know though, don’t try this at home.

On February 26, 2023, through the Never Broke Again label page, it was announced that the album was set to drop as the album’s official motion cover art was uploaded, captioning:

“NEXT” and “Demon Party,” both hinting at the release of Don’t Try This At Home were released on February 27, 2023, and March 2, 2023, respectively as promotional singles.

The album’s lead single, the Nicki Minaj-accompanied “WTF” was released on April 7, 2023. The album’s second single “Rear View with Mariah the Scientist was released just a week prior to the album on April 14, 2023.

The album was officially announced through Motown Records’ Instagram on March 22, 2023, in a post in which they previewed an album cover and noted that thirty-three tracks would appear on the Baton Rouge artist’s sixth studio album:
